A Little About Me

  • Member of the San Juan Unified School District Board from 2012-2020

  • Member of the California School Boards Association Delegate Assembly representing Region 6

  • Board member representative to the Labor Management Initiative (LMI)

  • Taught school board members throughout the state as a presenter of Masters in Governance for California School Boards Association

  • 40 years as teacher, principal, director of schools and programs, and volunteer—all in the San Juan Unified School District

  • Graduated from Encina High School in the San Juan Unified School District

  • Have served on the following board committee during the last eight years: Curriculum, Standards, and Instructional and Student Services ; District English Learner Advisory
    Committee (DELAC); Community Advisory Committee (CAC); Local Control Accountability Plan Parent Advisory Committee (LCAP PAC); and Facilities (as the alternate)

  • Wrote and presented equity and diversity curriculum throughout my career as a teacher, principal, director, and retiree

  • Asked by the Superintendent to create the Community Commission to address issues of human dignity when I was the director of schools and programs

  • Served on the Strategic Planning Committees for five superintendents

  • Proud parent of son who attended San Juan schools from kindergarten through high school

  • Proud grandparent of two future students
