Acoomplishments Since I’ve Served on the Board

  • Immediate response to COVID with technology, meals, social/emotional supports, parent and staff hubs for information, and distance learning in place within twelve instructional days after shutting down

  • Six positively certified annual budgets approved by the County Office of Education 

  • All schools modernized with energy efficient lighting and energy efficient monitoring of heating, cooling and water with solar panels at some high schools--all to save energy dollars and reduce the carbon footprint

  • Two performing arts centers, two science wings, two career technical centers built or in the construction phase as part of our high school signature projects and three more projects being planned

  • Five schools built or completely modernized with additional classrooms and two under construction.

  • Additional modernization included technology infrastructure, new heating and air conditioning, air conditioning in high school gyms, upgraded phone systems, and safety fencing and office entrances, artificial turf fields for high schools

  • New Safe Schools Model instituted two years ago using district employees to provide proactive prevention and intervention for student and staff safety

  • Expanded Career Technical Education with multiple career pathways for students

  • Created the Department of Equity and Student Achievement, the Diversity Alliance, Men of Equity, and even during COVID pandemic a series of listening events with staff, students, parents, and community around addressing racism in the district

  • Adopted inclusive social science curriculum and textbooks

  • Supports for students from credit recovery to math supports to academic coaches to Equal Opportunity Schools to summer learning to expanded Advanced Placement to 50 new engaging classes created by teachers to free PSAT

  • Creation of Meraki High School to offer an alternative high school model

  • Opportunities for increased stakeholder engagement with a more inclusive Strategic Planning Process; listening circles; ThoughtExchange;  LCAP PAC (Local Control and Accountability Plan Parent Advisory Committee) with students, staff, and parents; Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Committee; Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee; and Town Hall Meetings

  • Positive, collaborative relationships with our bargaining groups

  • MTSS (Multiple Tiers of Student Support) providing academic, social/emotional, psychological supports for students 

  • Early Childhood Education Redesign allowed programs to continue within funding allocation

  • Saved taxpayers money with bond repayment plan

  • Implemented the System of Professional Growth, an evaluation system for teachers that has been acknowledged nationally and across the state

  • Decisions are data driven

  • Created FACE (Family and Community Engagement Department) to support our families with training and resources
